about

Hi there! My name is Elizabeth, and I have a heart for disability inclusion and representation. What drives me is witnessing the joy that comes from freedom in truth. For me, that’s seeing us disabled folks being recognized and celebrated for who we are—not who or what society wants us to be.

Growing up as a deaf Korean American, I’ve witnessed injustices caused by ableism across multiple communities, convicting me of the need for systemic change. I believe that every person has inherent worth and dignity, no matter where they come from. I also believe in the power of words and ideas because they can shape our beliefs and values.

My mission is to empower individuals to embrace who they’re created to be through authentic, respectful storytelling in media. As my favorite writer Joan Didion once said, “We tell ourselves stories in order to live.” With good representation we can rewrite the stories we tell ourselves.

Previously, I was an Entertainment & News Media Fellow at RespectAbility, where I received the 2023 Ben Spangenberg & Justin Chappell Memorial Award. If you want my resume, please send me an email at elizabethk4y@gmail.com. Looking forward to hearing from you!
